Who Wants to be a Millionaire Spelling Blunder

Who Wants To Be a Millionaire

Who Wants to be a Millionaire viewers were left double taking after a ‘glaring mistake’ was made on Sunday night’s quiz show.

The outrage came as the latest episode of Jeremy Clarkson fronted quiz show featured an obvious spelling error.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the blunder as contestant David Harrison was introduced on the show.

Harrison was referred to as being from ‘Teeside’ but many viewers took it upon themselves to point out that is not the correct spelling of Teesside.

“I see there was a chap from that Teeside (sic) place on Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” tweeted one fan of the show in disgust.

“Who wants to be a millionaire spelling #teeside wrong again,” fumed another.

A third cried: “Outraged with @MillionaireUK for missing the second S in TeesSide #whowantstobeamillionaire #Teesside”

Jeremy replaced Chris Tarrant on the popular quiz show for the 25th anniversary last year.

The 59-year-old previously hosted BBC’s Top Gear from 1988 until 1998 and then again for another 13 years from 2002.

But Jeremy was fired in March 2015 after allegedly punching a producer, which led to his co-stars James May and Richard Hammond quitting the show too.

Following the trio’s departure, Chris Evans took over as one of the new hosts in 2016 alongside actor Matt LeBlanc.

LeBlanc then continued hosting the show after Evans threw in the towel after just one series.

Last month, Clarkson seized the opportunity to take a dig at LeBlanc when his name came up on Millionaire.

Contestant Chris Dent had been asked which Friends character had been a palentologist.

Chris, who ended up taking home £16,000, correctly said that it was Ross’ profession.

After revealing the answer was correct, Jeremy quipped wryly: “I don’t know what happened to the actor who played Joey – disappeared without a trace.”

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? continues Sunday at 8pm on ITV.
